The Gift of the Deer

This is my movie poster made on photoshop. It is based on a book, The Gift of the Deer by Helen Hoover. It is a true story about how she and her husband Ade moved from a big city to a cabin in Minnesota next to Lake Superior. Helen came to feel close to the deer and studied them.
This photomontage is made up of photos I shot of a deer in our front yard and photos my husband John shot of Lake Superior and a deer. The photo of Ade & Helen in the upper left corner is actually John & me. The stars, red ribbons, and logos are images from the internet.

Native American Days

We went to the Native American Days Sunday to take pictures for a class. I liked the Dream Catcher booth. I spent a good deal of time listening to this lady talk while working on her craft. She likes to talk to the person she's making a Dream Catcher for. When she meets someone, she asks "who are your people? Are they on your mother's side or your father's side of the family? When you tell me then I know who you are." She's from South Dakota and is a descendant of the Lakota Indians. She lives in a house, not a tepee. Her grandparents lived on a reservation; other people were welcome there unless they were doing something they shouldn't. She is a good woman. She has a good heart. She is good at making Dream Catchers.
